It’s important to understand the difference between completely online, non-AHA certifications and the blended learning approach offered by Bayside CPR. We are an official American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center. This means we adhere strictly to AHA guidelines and provide only official AHA certifications.
Many employers are wary of “online CPR certifications” from companies that claim to “follow AHA guidelines” but issue their own, non-recognized cards. These certifications hold no real-world value and are often considered rip-offs.
Bayside CPR offers AHA courses that utilize a blended learning format. This includes:
The in-person skills session is a mandatory component of our AHA-certified courses. This ensures you receive practical training and demonstrate competency, which is a requirement for official AHA certification.
In summary:
Therefore, our blended learning courses meet the requirements for official AHA certification, which is what your employer requires. If your employer has any concerns, please have them contact us directly at 443-837-7891 or info@baysidecpr.com, and we will be happy to provide further information and verification.
How do I get started? I’m having trouble getting the program to run or am confused…?
Please close and reopen any windows or tabs and then double-click the star icon on the computer’s desktop. The computer is both touchscreen and has a mouse trackpad. Alternatively, you can hit the ‘home’ icon on the internet browser. This will take you to a login page (select login in the upper right if applicable). Log in with the same credentials used to complete the online portion of the course. *Our staff does not have access to this and is unable to assist. You can use the forgot password link if needed.* The program will guide you from there. You may need to scroll down some pages for more information. If you encounter technical troubles, you may call RQI Support at 1-800-594-9935; they can proxy in, take screenshots, and fix things in real-time.
What if I am taking multiple sessions (EX: ACLS AND PALS and/or BLS)?
Since each discipline or course has a different set of skills and certification card, when you have completed one, simply log out and restart with the next discipline you would like to test on. Example: You want to test out on ACLS, PALS, and BLS…
1. Complete the online training for all disciplines.
2. Log in to the system and select one of the disciplines to start with.
3. Complete the program and get emailed your card.
4. Log out, restart the process, and choose the next discipline to get certified for that.
How long should this session take? What if it’s taking longer?
Everyone will be different. This will focus on your basic skills, and the AHA says the following are typical or average expectations for timeframe:
– BLS Sessions take between 30 – 60 minutes (you will test on adult and infant skills)
– ACLS Sessions take 15 – 45 minutes (testing only on adult skills)
– PALS Sessions will take 15-45 minutes (testing pediatric skills)
Bayside CPR schedules all sessions for one hour. If there is no student scheduled and waiting behind you, feel free to take as much time as you need. You may come back if needed.
What if the power or internet is out or it’s not working?
In the unlikely event of a power outage or technical issue, we apologize, but you will be unable to test at that time. Please text the help line from the number on the sign near the console and wait for directions. We will need to reschedule you and will talk through your options for certification. If you encounter technical troubles, you may call RQI Support at 1-800-594-9935; they can proxy in, take screenshots, and fix things in real-time.
I didn’t complete the online portion, can I still test?
No. There are no refunds for online courses, and you are unable to start the program until the online portion is complete. You will need to come back after finishing.
What if I can’t pass the session? How many tries do I have?
It’s okay, the program is meant to be challenging; it is looking for perfect practice. You have unlimited attempts. Please see the helpful tips sheet near the console and ensure that you watch all of the demo and help videos. Ensure that you keep count of your compressions, do NOT pause unless directed to, and start only when ready. The program will give a lot of feedback, ensuring you keep going. If you cannot pass, you should take a break and try later. You have unlimited attempts and do not need to pay to come back in to try again. If you still cannot pass, we can coordinate having a live instructor there or a virtual instructor to give guidance on another day by contacting our office. If still unable to pass, you will need to pay for a classroom certification course, but you will still be required to demonstrate the appropriate skills. Sorry, no refunds or credits.
Don’t I have to use an AED? What about the advanced part, for example: algorithms, drugs, etc??
Regardless of the course you are taking, the online portion is meant to hone the more advanced skills, and this skill session will focus on basic skills. You will receive a valid 2-year AHA certification card upon successful completion. If you would like a more hands-on learning experience, we suggest a classroom or blended course, or we have instructors available for questions before or after any session.
I’m having troubles with compressions.
Please be sure to watch the helpful tips on the program; it truly can help. There is a step stool in the cart that you should take out and use to get more leverage. Position the manikin that best works for you or even kneel right on the cart. Keep straight arms and use your whole body going down 2 inches and all the way back up at a rate of 100 per minute. The machine will give feedback.
I’m having trouble with the ventilations or the chest isn’t rising.
Many people have troubles with this and think it is an equipment issue. It is not. There is a specific technique needed. The head must be tilted back (but not hyper-extended too far), and the jaw lifted to allow air in. The videos will help, but also please click here for an excellent VIDEO example of how the breaths work.
How do I get my certification card? How do I get past the CEU screen if I don’t need one?
Once you have passed, you have an option to claim your eCard immediately. There is an evaluation and then an option for an emailed continuing education certificate. You are able to “click” out of the CE part and simply select “view ecard”. You can also put in any information to move on. CE’s are not mandatory for claiming your eCard. When viewing the ecard, you will have the option to scan the QR code to download it to your device or email it to yourself.
How do I get help?
PLEASE ensure that you watch all help, demo, and remediation videos on the console and below prior to attempting a text or support call. This ensures we can help as many people as possible and keep our prices competitive. Staff respond as soon as available and may take time and are only available during normal business hours. Contact information is on a sign in the room or text: 888-840-5527. If no reply after 10 minutes, text again and also call 443-837-7891 or email rqi@baysidecpr.com. If you encounter technical troubles, you may call RQI Support at 1-800-594-9935; they can proxy in, take screenshots, and fix things in real-time.
I can’t remember how to get into the room or have access troubles.
Please see your confirmation email for access details. For morning sessions, doors unlock precisely at the scheduled time; early arrival is not possible. For evening sessions, please arrive slightly early as doors will lock at the preset time. If you have any questions, text us at 888-840-5527.
